God has called Lisa to participate in his mission in Peru and she is excited about this new adventure into which God is leading her. Lisa currently lives in Chicago where she works as an occupational therapist. Lisa’s home church is First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, IL and they have affirmed her call to Peru and are committed to supporting her on this journey.
God used many people and events to bring Lisa to the point of committing herself to long-term service in Peru. In May of 2010 Lisa made her first trip to Peru to work with the Free Wheelchair Mission and a local church in Lima. One reality which deeply moved her was the fact that many of those receiving wheelchairs had no access to ongoing therapy, and if they did, some of them would not even need a wheelchair. As she served alongside the local partner church in Lima, she was impressed by their vision for beginning a ministry that would provide a more comprehensive approach, including therapy, for the individuals and their families being served. The name of this church is Camino de Vida and it is a fellowship passionately committed to demonstrating and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Lisa will be partnering with Camino de Vida and serving under their leadership in her work. Since her first trip to Peru in May of 2010, Lisa has returned to Peru several times for short trips, and each time God has confirmed in a deeper way his call for her.
Lisa is continuing her work as an occupational therapist while she focuses on developing her support team, learning Spanish, and preparing to relocate to Lima.
