Anne and John

Wheeler-Waddell

Member Care Resource Team Members

John and Anne serve on staff with The Antioch Partners (TAP) as part of the Member Care Resource Team.  They initially joined (TAP) as Member Care Coordinators in September 2009 and served in that capacity until December 2016. Both experienced missionaries, they have served in cross-cultural ministry in Kenya (Anne 1982-1996; John 1991-1996) and in Ethiopia (1997-2000 and 2004-2008) largely in teaching and pastoral ministries.

Caring for mission personnel has been a passion for them out of their own as well as coworkers’ mission service experiences and was part of the focus of their doctoral studies in Christian spirituality at Fuller Seminary. They are excited to be living out this passion by working with TAP in this vitally important area of Kingdom witness. Their goal continues to be to enable missionaries to be healthy spiritually, emotionally, relationally, physically and intellectually over the long haul, so they can participate effectively in God’s mission with a strong support network in place.  They as well are committed to working with sending churches in building strong and comprehensive support structures and practices for those involved in long-term, cross-cultural mission.

John and Anne met at Fuller Seminary in 1990. Both ordained pastors in the Presbyterian Church (USA), they bring their pastoral perspectives and teaching experience to their ministry of member care. Their involvement overseas with a variety of multicultural worshipping communities adds another element to their ministry.

Anne, having grown up in the San Francisco Bay Area, and John, having grown up in Houston, Texas, are currently settled in neutral territory, living in Jacksonville, Oregon.
