Bob and Kristi Rice
Bob and Kristi plan to serve in Ghana, West Africa in 2026. Bob serves on the faculty of Akrofi-Christaller Institute of Theology, Mission, and Culture (ACI), which is a graduate research and training Institute that seeks to strengthen Christian witness in Africa and the world through Christian scholarship. Bob has a passion for empowering and mentoring leaders, building up the church and equipping leaders to contextualize the good news of the Gospel to local culture.
Kristi serves with Healing Hearts, Transforming Nations, a Biblically based approach to helping communities find inner healing and reconciliation through an encounter with Jesus at the cross. Kristi is part of the international planning team for this ministry, supporting teams doing healing and reconciliation ministry and training facilitators as well as equipping churches in Ghana and West Africa who are beginning this work.
Bob and Kristi have served as mission co-workers through the Presbyterian Church (USA) for the last 15 years. From 2017 – 2025 they served in South Sudan. Bob taught courses at Nile Theological College (NTC) in Theology, Church History and Discipleship. Kristi served with the South Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church, organizing healing and reconciliation workshops through churches and training new facilitators for the ministry. From 2010 – 2016 they lived in the Democratic Republic of Congo, assisting with programs related to Christian Education and Evangelism.
Bob grew up in California and Kristi in the Midwest. Bob and Kristi met while they were both serving in Rwanda in 2003. They fell in love with Africa and discovered a shared call to life and ministry together. In Rwanda, Bob worked with African Evangelistic Enterprise as part of their evangelism team and Kristi worked with World Relief in their microfinance program.
Bob earned an MDiv and Masters of Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary in California. He anticipates completing a PhD in theology from Stellenbosch University in South Africa in 2026, focused on the contextualization of the gospel in South Sudan. Kristi completed a Masters in Business Administration focused on International Development from Hope International University in California.
